Thailand’s Ministry of Social and Digital Economy, in cooperation with several Thai startups, is developing “smart bracelets”. This plan has been approved by the cabinet.
In addition to the navigation system, the bracelet can also monitor the temperature, heart rate… of tourists and send information to the Covid-19 prevention force. The bracelet can also assist the user in dealing with many problems, such as requesting special assistance from the medical isolation program, asking for directions when lost…
This device will be broadcast to each international visitor to Thailand in Covid-19. It can track location, measure body temperature, blood pressure and heart rate. If a tourist has a body temperature higher than 37.5 degrees Celsius, the bracelet will immediately report to the nearest functional force for medical assistance.
First time smart bracelets will be given to a limited group of visitors under the special tourist visa program from November 1 onwards. It is not clear how long a traveler must wear the bracelet, or the additional costs associated with the device.
